Although comments by 1mrnewman are some what terse, there is an element of
truth in what it (and also those by Ranjan Shashi) depicts. There are many
complexities, though, to it, but I would like to add that the Chinese
didn't have air- strike power at that time whereas India had, but the
Indian Air Force was denied permission to strike; this also contributed to
the humiliating defeat of India. No doubt, it was due to the unstinted
support of J F Kennedy that the Chinese declared unilateral
ceasefire abruptly. Our then PM, J L Nehru, did falter but then history
tells us that every leader commits mistakes, some even blunders. But, in my
personal view, more humiliating than the defeat of our army in 1962, is the
fact ever since the unfortunate event, the Chinese leadership have taken
their country to being what it is today (today, even the US has to act
cautiously while dealing with China) whereas ours have let India and the
Indian people down. Let us hope our new PM, Shri Narender Modi, redeems our
honour.

It's sad that this song is credited to Lata Mangeshkar and C. Ramchandra,
while Pradeep, who wrote it finds no mention. He was'nt even to this
function. The poor poet died a mesarable death. May his soul rest in peace.

Have we not learnt anything from History. There is a famous saying "Those
who do not learnt from History are bound to repeat it". AS far as
equipment of the Armed Forces is concerned we are probably at the same
stage as prior to 1962. Will we need another singer to sing same type of

Ajaiji, by any chance, is there the original recording, the one recorded in
Delhi on 26th Jan. 1963 available? The video is almost impossible. but that
